This is an area that you visit when in Stavanger. A maze of beautiful old wooden homes with delightful gardens & small parks to be found amongst the cobblestone laneways. There is a museum in thereā€¦ Full review by NewieTraveller

Love walking the old town and seeing the small homes of yesterday. Beautiful flowers as expected. You will also pass by the Canning Museum. Enjoy walking the cobble stone streets. Full review by Steven W

Gorgeous part of Stavanger for a relaxing wander about and great pics. Especially when there isn't a cruise ship docked! Full review by Andrea B

Hi, Honestly if you have economy budget I recommend packed lunch otherwise the cheapest is McD in any other solution hard to say about budget. Packed food and salsa as well as fruits and vegetables you can purchase in supermarket Rema 1000 at Byterminalen (train and bus station) Good luck and have a nice stay!

Hi our ship docked alongside the old stavanger area so not very far. The paths are hilly with steps at the end so you will need to turn back & retrace your path I think. Not a problem because there is plenty to see. The paths are cobbled but with patience I think it will be doable especially once you are up the initial slope because it then levels out significantly. Enjoy your trip

Just wander round the old town (Gamle Stavanger) heading for Øvre Strandgate from the harbour area (Torget) and soak in the atmosphere. The old houses are well maintained and most have attractively planted pots or small gardens. There are also good views over the harbour as you continue walking. Outside Gamle Stavanger, the Domkirke (cathedral) in the centre is worth visiting.
